Direm el Mar is a multidisciplinary project that combines art, identity and environmental awareness. The exhibition takes its name from the poem by Miquel Martí i Pol, a tribute to the sea as a source of poetic inspiration and as an essential element of the identity of coastal communities. This project proposes to explore the relationship between the seascape, poetry and the problem of plastics in the oceans, inviting the public to reflect on the importance of taking care of our marine environment. Through plastics found in various marine places on the Mediterranean coast, which have been eroded and transformed by the effects of time, sun, cold, wind, rain... and the intervention of the human footprint, a series of works that make up the exhibition are created. Taking care of the oceans is taking care of ourselves, our history and our identity as beings connected to this vast expanse of water that has shaped our lives and our destiny. Ecological awareness calls us to preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the sea for future generations. We must be aware of how our actions, from the use of plastics to carbon emissions, affect marine ecosystems and our own identity. Only through an active commitment to sustainability and conservation can we ensure that the sea remains an integral part of our identity and the stories we share. Direm el mar, was conceptually born from the research project “A Sea of ​​Plastic” subsidized in 2020 by the Ministry of Culture and Sports (General Directorate of Fine Arts) of the Government of Spain in its call for grants for artistic research, creation and production in the field of Visual Arts (File 83/208).
