Elena Martí, multidisciplinary artist

STATEMENT

Most of my creations refer to Nature, either explicitly as a central motif, landscapes, drawings, or indirectly through the materials I use. Nature is no longer untamed. It has been drawn, modified and reinterpreted according to human needs, desires and perspectives. Most of my works are based on natural materials—earth, oxides, organic pigments, handmade paper and plant remains—to explore an idea of a landscape that is no longer pure, but constructed, manipulated, wounded.

biography

Born in Barcelona, she currently resides in Valencia with a workshop in the Russafa neighborhood. He has held numerous collective and individual exhibitions, national and international. He has won several awards and has work in the contemporary art collection of the Generalitat Valenciana. Since its beginnings, its works have revolved around time, vulnerability and the fragility of nature as a metaphor for our own existence. Elena Martí has held different group and individual exhibitions at the Antonio Pérez Foundation in Cuenca, Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid, Paris, London and Rio de Janeiro. He actively participates in artistic events that take place in the Ruzafa neighborhood of Valencia, where he has his workshop. He is a member of the Sporting Club Russafa-Carlos Moreno Mínguez Cultural Association, and of the Open Natura group, an association that annually carries out installations in different natural areas, El Arrayán, Paracuellos de la Vega... Throughout her career she has received the Francesc Galí award (Barcelona Provincial Council), selected on several occasions at La Bienal de Manises, and the Sanvisens competition in Sitges Barcelona. In 2013 she was named 'Artist for Nature', by the "Valencian Institute of Hiking and Nature". She has been selected by the Jarit Civil Association to participate in an artistic intervention project in Algeria in 2018, for the installation on posidonia 'Out of place' (The Sea of Fragile). The latest individual exhibition “Vulnerable”, held in 2019, has been selected and curated by the Romàn de la Calle Documentation Center for Contemporary Valencian Art of the University of Valencia, in the Contemporary Art Space.
